Here we are at the very top of Amber Mountain…we were pretty thrilled to be up there but a nasty rainstorm was headed our way so we didn’t stop for long…It took us about 3 hours of hiking across the top and then we descended to our camp…another 2-3 hours of hiking.

The Skyline Trail…Day Two & Three

Day two we hiked through two mountain passes. This was a great day…coming out of the tree line to see the valleys in between the mountains was so refreshing…no more switchbacks….for a while…Yay!! Again we hiked for about 6-7 hours straight with stops to rest our feet and have a snack or two and to fill our water bottles pumping fresh water from the streams…it was so cold!

As evening approached we had the chance to see the sun setting high above the clouds…so amazing and beautiful…I felt like I could reach out and touch the tip top of the mountain…we made it to the camp that night to have dinner and set up our tent in the black of night….that was fun!

Day three was the climbing up to the Notch…The Notch is the high column leading to the summit ridge of Amber Mountain. It was pretty windy up there but we managed to not get blown off the tip top… Can you see the big black and white photo..see the snow at the top of the mountain?…That’s the Notch…Day three was great at the top of Amber mountain it was breath taking….I’ve never experienced the mountains like that, it was so beautiful!!

The Skyline Trail…Day One

A few days ago we returned from a hike in Jasper. We chose to hike the skyline trail as it was my first real hiking experience and the view is supposed to be one of the best in Jasper. David has been on many a hiking trip so he was really guiding us as we traveled with our companions, Nigel, Kevin and Ashley. I guess I didn’t really put much thought into hiking 44km..up the side of a mountain…with close to 40lbs on my back. Well let me tell you, I’ve certainly thought a lot about all that since returning home… That was quite the experience, physically challenging for me but absolutely one of the best personal experiences I’ve ever achieved! As photographers, we couldn’t leave our cameras at home so we packed those up the side of the mountain too. So happy we chose to bring our cameras with us as I’ve never seen such spectacular images as we did on journey through the Skyline Trail.

Day One… My point of view….I was very excited!!…The view…lots and lots of trees…oh and switch backs. If you want to enjoy the view on the Skyline I suggest traveling at a good pace but stop and enjoy the view as much as possible…We had to stop quite frequently to fill our water bottles and take a few pictures along the way. What a great feeling to make it to the first camp and take off my boots…ahh…great feeling! Enjoy the first part of our trip..I believe the first day we hiked about 5 hours to get to our camp…I’ll update you with day 2, 3 and 4 soon.

Lisa & Curtis…Part Two

Lisa and Curtis’ Reception was held at the beautiful Silvertip Resort in Canmore. What a fantastic night…they were surrounded by family and friends, the perfect day. Lisa did an amazing job on the details of her wedding…she even had flip flops for the guest as they knew they’d be dancing all night long. Their live band “The Real Deal” was exceptional and so much fun for their guests. Lisa and Curtis we hope you two are having a great time on your honeymoon…we had so much fun with you!!

Wow…I’ve never seen the Mountains look so mysterious as on Lisa and Curtis’ wedding day. They mood was very romantic indeed….David and I drove through the smokey mountains to capture Lisa and Curtis’ day at the fabulous Silvertip Resort in Canmore Alberta.
